Primary School
In Scotland children usually start primary school when they are aged between 4½ and 5½ years old. Your child will be at primary school for seven years. They will continue to grow and develop in their own time.

If you are concerned about your child's mental health speak to school staff, the school nurse or their G.P.. There are lots of services offering support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Many of these are now offered in schools or through third sector or council organisations.
