Thinking and Feeling
Your child might be able to learn a nursery rhyme off by heart. When looking at a favourite book they will be able to tell you if you have skipped some pages. Your child can spot differences in a group of items. They can place 4 pictures in the right order to tell a story. They can sort items by category like separating their toys into various piles such as cars, teddies and books.
Your child knows about things that happened in the past. They can look forward to events in the future like going to the zoo or going to someone's birthday party. They know the difference between big and little like "I'll have the big slice of cake and you can have the little slice".
Your child is starting to understand some common dangers such as the cooker is hot, stay away from the road etc.
Your child can stick to a preferred activity even when there are distractions. This is the start of concentration developing.
Your child likes to be independent. Let them choose what clothes to wear, which snack to eat, what game they want to play, which story they want before bed.
