Moving On To Nursery
All children aged 3-5 years and some 2 year olds get funded early learning and childcare. You can find out more from mygov.scot.
Early learning and childcare (ELC) describes the range of early education and childcare available in Scotland before children start school. ELC settings include settings known as family centres, nursery schools, nursery classes attached to primary schools, and childminders.
You can find out more information about ELC from:
- Education Scotland: Early Learning and Childcare (ELC)
- Parent Club: Childcare
If your child has a complex learning needs and lives in Glasgow you can find out more about what their Journey from Birth to School might look like, who might support them along the way and how to contact services in Glasgow on the Resources for parents/carers page of the Glasgow Educational Psychology Services Website (scroll down until you find Journey from Birth to School for Children with Complex Learning Needs).
If your child is starting at nursery you can try our Moving On To Nursery questionnaire. This will give you activity ideas to develop some of the skills they need to join in at nursery.
There is more information about your child's development between 3 and 5 years in the nursery section.
