The Scottish Paediatric Renal Service is based at the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC), Glasgow. We provide a national tertiary service for children and young people with kidney disease in Scotland. As part of the Scottish Paediatric Renal and Urology Network (SPRUN) we link in with all paediatric units throughout Scotland to provide support for patients with the aim of offering care as locally as possible. Our team delivers both inpatient and outpatient care for children and young people up to their 18th birthday.
We are based on Ward 3C in RHC. We have a 10 bedded inpatients unit and we have a dedicated 4 bedded haemodialysis unit attached to the ward. We offer a national service for both dialysis and kidney transplantation. We work very closely with our urology colleagues who manage the surgical aspects of kidney and bladder disease. We are also supported by a large team of allied health professionals including a renal pharmacist, dietitian, clinical psychologists and play therapists.
