I am a consultant orthodontist, based in Glasgow at the Glasgow Dental Hospital and Glasgow Children’s Hospital. I have been involved directly in cleft care for nearly 20 years, and I am presently the Clinical Lead for the Cleft Surgical Service for Scotland and lead for the orthodontic Group for Cleft Care Scotland. I was previously the Lead for the Cleft Care Scotland Network.
I am a member of Clinical Excellent Network for orthodontic cleft Care through the Cleft and Craniofacial society of Great Britain & Ireland and currently with my colleague in Manchester as lead for the 5yr BCLP yardstick scoring for GB&I. I represent The Cleft Surgical Service for Scotland on the Cleft Development Group (CDG), and as part of the Quality Monitoring Improvement Committee (QMIC) for the UK.
I am former chair and presently serve on the Specialist Advisory Board for Orthodontics for the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh, as well as being a member of Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) for orthodontics for the General Dental Council and a former member of Dental Council for Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

I am a Consultant Cleft, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, The National Cleft Surgical Service for Scotland, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
I studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and qualified in 1997. I carried out my basic surgical training in Cambridge and plastic surgical training in the north of England. I then went on to undertake fellowships in Glasgow, India, France and New York. I was appointed as a Consultant in Plastic, Reconstructive and Cleft Surgery in 2013. I was the Clinical Lead for both Paediatric Plastic Surgery and the National Cleft Surgical Service for Scotland, and I am currently the Clinical Lead for the UK Cleft Lip and Palate Database.
Mr Dave Drake - Consultant Cleft and Maxillofacial Surgeon, BDS FDS RCS MB ChB FRCS, and Lead Clinician Cleft Care Scotland Network.
I am a Consultant Cleft and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the National Cleft Service for Scotland based in Glasgow and specialise in treating children and adults with cleft lip and palate. I qualified in dentistry and then medicine from the University of Manchester. I trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery the Northwest of England and cleft surgery in the North East of England and Canada
I was appointed in November 2005 in Wales as a consultant cleft and maxillofacial surgeon in Swansea for 13 years as the lead cleft surgeon with the Welsh Cleft service. I moved to Glasgow in 2018 to join the Scottish Cleft Service. I also specialise in paediatric maxillofacial surgery, facial deformity surgery and rhinoplasty. I have an interest in surgical training and have been the Chair of the Training Interface Group for cleft surgery in the UK. I am currently Chair of the UK training committee for Maxillofacial Surgery. I have always been a strong advocate for cleft patients and their families and am trustee of CLAPA.
Between 2002 and 2019 I travelled to India to provide Cleft Care with the Northern Cleft Foundation charity, treating patients with a cleft and supporting the development of local surgeons and services. I have worked extensively across Southern and Central India. I am now working with the charity and clinicians at the University of Hanoi in Vietnam to further develop their cleft services.
Mr Mark F Devlin - Consultant Cleft and Maxillofacial Surgeon. (MBChB FRCSEd(OMFS) FRCSEd FRCS(Glasg) FFSTEd PGDipClinEd(RCPSG) BDS FDSRCPS)
I am a Consultant Cleft and Maxillofacial Surgeon based at the Regional Maxillofacial Unit, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. I have been a Consultant Cleft Surgeon since 2006. I am currently the Deputy Chief of Medicine for Regional Services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
I studied at the University of Glasgow, graduating in both Medicine and Dentistry. I have Fellowships from both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow: Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDSRCPS) 1992/ Fellowship in Surgery (FRCS) 2011 and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh: Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) 1999, Intercollegiate Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FRCSEd OMFS) 2004.
My clinical and research interests are Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery, Facial Disfigurement Surgery (Both Congenital and Acquired), Facial Aesthetic Surgery and Medical Education.
Jenny Pettigrew, CNS Team Lead
I qualified as a children’s nurse in 2003 from Glasgow Caledonian University and graduated from Strathclyde University with BA Nursing in 2006. I worked as paediatric staff nurse in surgical wards at Yorkhill hospital, Glasgow, for 5 years prior to starting with cleft team in 2008. I spent 3 years working two days a week as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and 2 days working as staff nurse on the ward before joining the cleft team full time in 2011. I completed a cleft course at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2013. I have had the privilege of being CNS team lead since 2017.
I am based at Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and I am the named CNS for families living in Fife and Forth Valley, and for some families living in Lanarkshire and Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

I qualified from the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Edinburgh in 2020; I worked in the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit before I joined the NCSSS in 2021.
I enjoy being able to meet and work with people of all ages born with a cleft, and to promote psychological wellbeing to patients and family members. Based in Glasgow, I travel with the team to clinics across Scotland, ensuring all patients have access to psychosocial support.
I provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to patients within the Cleft Service. The Cleft Psychology team also provide support in multidisciplinary clinics and throughout any surgical treatment. I work closely with our Cleft Team to ensure support is available should a patient or family member require it.
I am currently Chair of the UK Cleft Psychology Clinical Excellence Network (CEN), a group representing Cleft Clinical Psychologists across the UK.
Lyndsay Kirk – Cleft Service Co-ordinator
I have >10 years’ experience in health services administration and prior to joining the Cleft team in 2020, provided support to a number of clinical services across NHSGGC for both adults and children.
I line manage the Cleft administration team and provide wide ranging administrative leadership for the National Cleft Surgical Service for Scotland. I am currently lead for the UK Cleft Co-ordinators/Managers Specialist Interest Group.
I co-ordinate the activity of the Cleft surgical service staff as well as working closely with multi-disciplinary clinicians to ensure any person born with a Cleft in Scotland is seen and treated in line with the Nationally agreed pathways and have overall responsibility for the Cleft waiting lists for surgery and outpatient appointments.
