ENT Department (Ear Nose & Throat)

Paediatric ENT surgeons look after children with a wide range of ear-nose and throat problems. Our team delivers both inpatient and outpatient care for children and young people up to their 16th birthday, living in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area. 

We provide a national tertiary service for children and young people with airway problems in Scotland. The outpatient department is based at RHC, with outreach clinics across Greater Glasgow and Clyde. 

Training in Paediatric ENT at RHC Glasgow

We are an accredited training centre for Paediatric ENT and have trained UK doctors and overseas doctors as part of our paediatric ENT fellowship.

We have several specialist clinics/services, such as  the Airway clinic, Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA) clinic, Saliva control clinic, the Vertigo clinic and the Voice clinic. 

 

Our Team

The Paediatric ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) department consists of: 

  • 7 ENT consultants 
  • 1 Consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine 
  • 2 Specialty doctors ENT 
  • 1 General practitioner with special interest in ENT 
  • 2 Specialist Airway Nurses 
  • 2 Clinical nurse specialists in ENT.

Mr David Wynne

Mr Wynne provides general paediatric ENT services at the Royal Hospital for Children.

His focus is also on providing an ENT service for:

  • Children with voice disorders.
  • The national service for children with airway problems.
  • The national service for children with cleft palate (craniofacial malformation).
  • Children with blocked tear-canals (lacrimal / DCR surgery).

Ms Tash Kunanandam

Ms Tash Kunanandam

Ms Kunanadam provides general paediatric ENT services at the Royal Hospital for Children.

Her focus is also on providing an ENT service for:

- Children with breathing disorders.
- The national service for children with airway problems.
- Children with vascular malformations of the head and neck.

Mr Andy Clement

Mr Clement provides general paediatric ENT services at the Royal Hospital for Children.

His focus is also on providing an ENT service for:

  • Children with breathing disorders.
  • The national service for children with airway problems.

Ms Kerrie McAllister

Ms Kerrie McAllister

Ms McAllister provides general paediatric ENT services at the Royal Hospital for Children.

Her focus is also on providing an ENT service for:

- Children with chronic ear problems (perforated ear drums, cholesteatoma...).
- Children with balance disorder.

The national service for children with microtia.
- Children in need of hearing reconstruction (e.g. bone conducting devices and ossicular replacement prosthesis).

Mr Haytham Kubba

Mr Haytham Kubba

Mr Kubba provides general paediatric ENT services at the Royal Hospital for Children.

His focus is also on providing an ENT service for:

- Children with breathing disorders.
- The national service for children with airway problems.

Children with vascular malformations of the head and neck.
-
Children with problems of their saliva control.


He contributes as part of the multidisciplinary clinics for:

  • Children with achondroplasia.
  • Children with trisomy 21.

Mr Ellis provides general paediatric ENT services at the Royal Hospital for Children.

Dr Juan Mora

Dr Juan Mora

Dr Mora provides paediatric ENT and audiology services at the Royal Hospital for Children, Renfrew Health and Social Works Centre and Inverclyde Royal Hospital for:

- Children with poor hearing, either since birth or acquired throughout childhood.

Children with other symptoms like tinnitus, hyperacusis and auditory processing difficulties.

Joyce Gray contributes to the Paediatric ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) service as Specialist Airway Nurse.

You will meet her when your child attends the Airway Clinic and when your child is admitted to hospital for Airway Surgery.

If your child needs a Tracheostomy, Naso-Pharyngeal-Airway or Nasal Stents Joyce along with her colleague will support you.

 

Emma Clark

Emma Clark

Emma Clark contributes to the Paediatric ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) service as Specialist Airway Nurse.

You will meet her when your child attends the Airway Clinic and when your child is admitted to hospital for Airway Surgery.

- Repeated nosebleeds (epistaxis).

Jane Barbary

Jane BarbaryJane Barbary contributes to the Paediatric ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in ENT. You will meet her when your child comes for one of our Nurse Led Services.

These services are for children with:
- Recurrent tonsillitis.
- Impacted earwax.
- Repeated nosebleeds (epistaxis).
- Short tongue ties.
